Founded in 2022, Yela Art Foundation emerged from a critical need for structured support within Nigeria's vibrant but underserved art community. We recognized the immense talent waiting to be nurtured and the economic opportunities waiting to be unlocked.
Today, Yela Art Foundation is committed to nurturing a new generation of artists by providing access to creative facilities, practical knowledge, comprehensive training, and meaningful pathways to both local and global markets. Through this holistic support, we empower artists to build sustainable, thriving careers while contributing boldly to the growth and global relevance of our cultural landscape.
Our Journey
Yela Art Foundation began with a simple vision — to support emerging artists through structured training, business education, and meaningful creative opportunities. From its early days, the foundation focused on building practical programs that equip artists with both technical skills and the knowledge required to sustain creative careers.
Through hands-on studio training, weekly business classes, and strategic collaborations, the foundation has supported over 100 artists across different mediums. These initiatives have provided access to mentorship, materials, funding opportunities, and platforms for visibility within the growing creative ecosystem.
In 2025, Yela Art Foundation was officially registered as a non-governmental organization in Nigeria, marking an important step in strengthening its mission and expanding its reach. Since then, the foundation has continued to grow in impact — fostering cultural development, supporting artist communities, and contributing to the evolving contemporary art landscape from Benin City to the wider African scene.
